The Problem with Typical Hen Do Activities
I've heard the stories. The bride-to-be is dragged to yet another themed bar. Someone cries. Someone else gets too drunk. By the end of the night, nobody really remembers much except the hangover.
A creative workshop is the antidote to that. It's something the whole group can enjoy — whether you're 25 or 55, whether you're into crafts or not. It's relaxed, it's fun, and you leave with something you made together.
What Our Hen Do Workshops Look Like
We've hosted quite a few bachelorette groups at our workshop space, and the formula that works best is simple:
You show up (ideally slightly less hungover than the night before). Farah walks you through making handmade soaps or whipped soap. You choose your scents, colours, and decorations. There's tea, there's snacks, there's usually a lot of laughing.
One group came in after a canal cruise and spent the entire workshop debating whether "Ocean Breeze" or "Fresh Linen" was the better scent for the bride. Another group surprised the bride with a custom colour scheme in her favourite shades. These little moments are what make it special.
Why It Works for Groups
Here's what I've noticed: workshops are great for bachelorette parties because they're inclusive. Nobody's left out. There's no pressure to keep up with anyone's drinking pace. The shy people can focus on their soap. The loud people have plenty to talk about. And everyone leaves with a gorgeous handmade gift — including the bride.
A recent bride told me: "This was the first time during the whole trip where I actually felt relaxed. No rushing, no pressure. Just making something pretty with my favourite people."
The Practical Stuff
Our workshop space is in Amsterdam-Oost, which is perfect if you want to combine the workshop with brunch or dinner in the neighbourhood. Sessions run for about 2 hours, and we can accommodate groups of up to 12 people.
